How many times have you sung Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is” and then said to yourself, “no, really…I want to know what love is”?
Well, say it no more, because I’ve got all the musical answers to that question right here at djrobblog.com.
Well, I’ve got at least 20 of ’em.
I’ve created a list of 20 songs – based on your suggestions – that aim to answer that very question, “what is love?”
Now if you’re thinking that “Love is all you need,” like the Beatles told us in 1967, that may be true, but not for this list. Technically, the song doesn’t qualify because, well, the title is actually “All You Need is Love.” In other words, it was more about what we needed than what love is.
And yes, “Love Hurts” and “Love Bites,” but that doesn’t tell you what “Love” actually is, either. So, you won’t be seeing Nazareth and Def Leppard on this list.
But you will see songs by the Supremes, Sting, Roxy Music and many others, so don’t be discouraged.
Oh, and folks, this list also marks a milestone for djrobblog. It’s the first one I’ve created that uses the listly plug-in feature, which allows me to present the list in slide show fashion and allows readers to vote up or down on the items that I’ve included.
I will definitely be using this feature in the future, so I hope you let your opinions be known.
Now here it is, the Djroblist of songs that tell us exactly what love is, in no particular order.
Enjoy scrolling, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

"(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" was a 1977 single by Australian singer Andy Gibb. Parenthetical subtitle included, it reached #1 in March 1978, sandwiched between the #1 hits by his three big brothers ("Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever").
