(March 27, 2020). More than one-third of all Americans have been asked (or ordered) to stay at home in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.
That’s more than 100 million people across some of the country’s most populated areas, and that number is only expected to rise in the coming days and weeks as the virus continues to impose its wrath on America and the world.
Indeed social distancing is the new norm and the new expectation across the land…well, that is unless the president has his way…but the states actually decide, so there’s that. But I digress.
If you’re one of the millions who are in lockdown at home, whether it’s because you’re more vulnerable to exposure to the virus or because you’ve been “advised” to stay there by your local or state authorities, this special home-themed song playlist – courtesy of DJROBBLOG – is just for you!
The blog has constructed a playlist featuring 60 of the best songs about being home, going home, returning home, or just plain home itself. And there are some real gems on the list by rock greats like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Eddie Money and Ozzy; as well as soul legends like Sam Cooke, Luther Vandross, The Spinners, and Toni Braxton.
Even rappers like Kanye, Foxy Brown, Diddy and Drake are included, as well as country stars such as Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris.
And no list would be complete without today’s pop giants like Taylor Swift and Maroon 5; and, yes, even K-pop sensation BTS is represented.
In other words, there’s something in this musical abode for everyone, whether you’re stuck at home due to self-quarantine or because your state’s governor mandated it.
Let’s face it, none of us like being on lockdown – especially for the reasons we are: a novel killer virus whose pathology we understand very little about and for which there currently is no cure or vaccine.
Likewise, very few people enjoy sitting through non-stop news coverage of this worsening doom-and-gloom scenario interspersed with commercials about things you can no longer indulge in because you’re under quarantine.
You’re probably also growing tired of binge watching your favorite series on Netflix or suffering through the umpteenth airing of a professional sports game from years past when we should be enjoying March Madness 2020!
But all of that is the new normal, at least for now. And since you’re likely spending lots of time at home, you might as well commemorate your situation by scrolling through and having a little listening fun while being reminded of the joys (and sometimes the perils) of home.
No, you won’t find this type of thing on any prepper’s survival list, but I think we can all agree that music and home are both essential to the soul.
To add a little twist, DJROBBLOG presents the playlist in countdown fashion from No. 60 to No. 1: The 60 Greatest Songs About “Home.” Of course, you’ll likely disagree with the order as this is one blogger’s opinion. So feel free to provide yours in the blog’s comment section below or on our social media feeds.
Not included: holiday-themed songs and songs just about “houses,” because remember, a house is not a home.
So enjoy the list (scroll through all 60 entries before playing the Spotify playlist at the end), and don’t forget to vote for your faves!
(Note: In addition to scrolling through the above countdown list, you can also enjoy this special Spotify playlist created by the blog…more than four hours of the best “home” songs ever!)
